2014 “We were so fortunate to have an amazing couple of days here. Earlier in the year, in June we spent a beautiful few hours paying only to use the private beach and gardens and loved it. It was not peak time and although it was fairly busy there were still plenty of chairs and umbrellas available and plenty of space in the Kinneret for swimming.
The Kinneret here is beautiful and clean, plenty of shallow water perfect for young children and for sitting and relaxing in. A lifeguard on duty and a jetty for jumping off into deeper water. After this visit – having got a glimpse of the pool and grounds of the hotel we hoped to come back one day and really make the most of it.
We took the opportunity during those days between Yom Kippur and Succot when the schools were closed and the place felt almost empty. There were some groups staying, but other than that it was quiet, relaxing and beautiful. We don’t get much chance for getting away and this was perfect. We enjoyed the pool, but the main attraction was definitely the Kinneret which was lovely and warm and empty.
Music from the pilgrim boats added to the atmosphere and we even splashed out 50 shekel to rent a pedalo (meant to be for half an hour but they let us keep going!) They provided life jackets and the kids were thrilled with jumping out the boat in the jackets and had a great time!
In the evening, the weather is so pleasant…we took a walk through the nofesh area – really nice, basic individual chalets with bbq areas, and explored the Kibbutz. We found the Kibbutz shop – great for all your essentials, and a lovely park.
We then had a delicious and varied meal in the hotel restaurant for supper. Well kitted out with a clean booster seat for the baby and child friendly food (even my fussy eaters enjoyed the salads presented so nicely!)
We stayed in a really nicely decorated ground floor room (the hotel is spread out and I think there are only two levels anyway) and sat on our small patio outside enjoying the view while our children were sleeping which was great.
The next morning, breakfast is served nice and early which was great for our early risers. We spent ages there…so much choice and it was great to take our time. Then we went on to spend the whole day relaxing by the Kinneret. The hotel is located right in the middle of so many attractions which would be great if we were there for longer but we decided to go for relaxation this time and although it was only one night away, it felt like a week escape far away and was totally worth it!
We highly recommend it – I’m sure it is buzzing with fun and energy in the busy times of year but if you are looking for a quieter time I highly recommend trying to find an off peak time to spend there!
