We are pleased to recommend Rabbi Aryeh Leifert as a tour guide. Our family, consisting of 6 adults and 6 children (ranging in ages from 5 ½ to 14) spent a glorious four days with Aryeh while we toured Israel from Tel Aviv to Mitzpe Ramon and then to Jerusalem. Aryeh made a big hit with the kids, and they’re still talking about him. Although all of the grown-ups had spent long periods of time in Israel and were not newcomers, we all learned new things. Whether exploring Canaanite, Biblical, Temple or Modern sites Aryeh’s style is experiential and very engaging. For example, when discussing the re-capture of the Old City of Jerusalem in 1967, he showed us pictures and talked about the leaders as well as playing for us Naomi Shemer’s Yerushalayim Shel Zahav. Some of the highlights were lighting Chanuka candles together, visiting Sde Boker, hiking Ein Avdat, swimming in the Dead Sea, and visiting Eretz Beresheet. Aryeh knows the good photo-ops and places to eat and shop. All in all, if you wish a fun filled trip with accessible and engaging learning, Aryeh is your man.

Rabbi Leiffert was recommended to us by a friend. We’d extended our stay in Israel after a group tour so we could see more and get more personal attention. He met us for breakfast at the hotel, then we got an early start exploring. The main sites we explored were Tel Lachish, which the Assyrians had assaulted in the 700’s BC, then we explored several locations close to the border with the Gaza Strip. We saw rockets that been fired on the Israeli town of Sderot. We met a woman in another village who is doing a mosaic project on a secondary wall protecting her town from those in Gaza firing on them. We each added our own ceramic piece with our petition for peace to the wall. Our last stop of the day was at the Remembrance Center for those Israeli citizens who had been removed from the Gaza Strip in 2005 as a peace initiative.

Our day was full and informative. He geared our tour to our interests and what we had not yet seen. We saw both ancient remains and sites relative to the current political situation. Rabbi Leiffert is well prepared with detailed maps of the country and sites he visits. I highly recommend his tours.

Our three day tour included many sites throughout Israel and one day in Jerusalem. Rabbi Aryeh A. Leifert was incredibly knowledgeable, passionate and communicated with ease. He brought the history of the holy sites to life as well as their significance too. He was prepared and knowledgeable about the three relevant religions giving us a deep and inclusive perspective on Israel – it’s past and its present. He had a wonderful sense of humor and all four of us truly enjoyed the time we spent together with the Rabbi. We walked away with a connection and understanding of the people and culture of Israel. We highly recommend the Walking Israel tours with Rabbi Aryeh A. Leifert.

We were fortunate to have our tour with Rabbi Aryeh A. Leifert. We originally had booked with another tour guide who was unable to fulfill the obligation but referred us to him. We spent three days in Israel with Rabbi Aryeh A. Leifert as our guide. All logistics regarding the trip were handled efficiently and smoothly and he truly made us feel welcome. His insights as to the historical significant sites as well as the extremely proficient knowledge of Israeli history and culture were very much appreciated. We thank him very much for making this a very memorable trip and will definitely highly recommend him to all those seeking a guided private tour. We will likely book our next trip to Israel with him.

Our group has used Aryeh Leifert of Walking Israel for the past few years. He is a superb tour-guide which is why we request him every year. Aryeh has a way of engaging the pre-teens (and adults) so that the trip is both educational and entertaining. His vast knowledge of all things Israel truly enhances each outing. We highly recommend using Aryeh and or any of the tour-guides from Walking Israel on your next visit.

We did a bar mitzvah at the Kotel, as well as some touring. Aryeh arranged everything from soup to nuts, and we were very happy with our experience and his work.
