Description:
The Shevach family immigrated to Israel from Yemen in 1928. Uri’s grandfather Aharon was a goldsmith artist who specialized in Judaica. In 1940 Uri’s father Meir was born and from a young age showed great interest in his father’s work. As Meir got older Aharon began to teach Meir the fine art of filigree work and the family’s secret designs and techniques.
For 30 years Meir worked as a self-employed silversmith and continued to develop his skills creating new filigree designs. During those years Uri was born and Meir passed down his love of silversmithing and the family’s filigree secrets to him.
In 1992 Uri and Meir opened their own store of boutique silver and specialized Judaica in the Old City of Jerusalem on the famous Cardo Street that was once the epicenter for shopping during the times of the Romans. Their hand crafted masterpieces continue to use their family’s traditional Yemenite designs. They proudly create all of their products by hand in their Jerusalem factory using sterling silver and 24k gold.
Our goal at Uri Arts & Judaica is to provide high quality, hand made, boutique silver and Judaica products that can be passed down for generations, excellent customer service, and for you to feel like you are a part of our family when you shop with us.
