We spent a very enjoyable couple of hours at kibbutz Ein Shemer with a group of adults in the Shomron valley where our guide, Amir, a third generation kibbutznik told us the history of the kibbutz. The fascinating museum with its life size models of kibbutz members followed the story of the first Polish chalutzim who established the kibbutz in 1927, and a short video showed how the children worked, played and slept in the children’s houses. Lots of special activities for kids and an enjoyable tractor ride around the perimeter of the kibbutz. You need to book and find out what’s on when. Unfortunately restaurant is not certified kosher so go well-stocked.’
Description:
The Old Courtyard Museum tells the story of the early pioneer kibbutz settlement in the 1920s, then and now.
At this historical museum you will hear and see the story of the kibbutz, the way in which it developed, its unique community life, and the difficulties and dilemmas that stood and still stand before the members of the kibbutz.
You have three activities to choose from:
1. A self-tour of the historical museum only. When you arrive at the museum we will show you how to activate the films, and you will be given a brief explanation of the museum.
2. A guided tour, with a personal guide at your disposal.
The tour includes: a private tour of the historical museum.
The guide will tell you the historical story and stories from the lives of the place and its residents, then and now. After that, your guide will take you on a tour of today’s kibbutz in a tractor-drawn wagon. The tour will stop and tell you about the places of interest related to kibbutz life. We’ll stop at the dairy and visit the newborn calves. We’ll look out at the farmland that belongs to the kibbutz.
The tour lasts 1.5 -2 hours
3. Guided tour for families with children
