Beautiful little forest in the Sharon area - great for young families or anyone with an hour or two to spare in the region.
This past weekend (early March) we wanted a short outing to get us out the house on a Friday afternoon. This rather sweet secret forest was what greeted us after a 25 minute drive from Raanana to Moshav Kochav Yair. Put יער הרקפות, כוכב יאיר into Waze.
There were many cyclamen and other wild flowers in the forest and a lovely path to follow round. Not suitable for strollers, but perfect length for toddlers.
For older children or the more adventurous there is a nice uphill section out of the top end of the forest that leads to a pretty lookout across the fields - called Mitzpe Haachim.
It is a short outing, but there is space to explore a bit a the top and in the surrounding fields - we were even lucky enough to see a large herd of goats and sheep and follow them around a bit!
Overall, this was a cute, free stroll in nature - not worth travelling far from especially, but perfect if you are driving through the Sharon area and want a stop off, or if you live in the Sharon region and just want a little outing!
